Last week I was cleaning my car with a pressure washer, and decided to pressure wash the engine too. After I washed the engine I went to turn the car on and all my dash guages were gone, nothing lights up, including the headlights and my car is continually stuck in 2nd gear.

Two of my fuses blew, and I followed the melted wires back as far as I could go into the dash. I replaced the melted wire, but nothing has changed, I assume the wires are further melted back into the dash, but that would require me to take the dash panel off. Im at the point now, that I couldnt care less about the dash, but I need to have my gears back. Is there a way to get back my transmission, what could be causing it to be stuck in 2nd gear. Please Help. I have a 1998 Mazda Protege Automatic

stuck in third gear

I think its actually stuck in 3rd gear, again nothing in the dash is working. Oh and im actually getting better gas mileage now that im stuck 3rd gear, but im worried that it will eventually ruin my transmission.

any help out there would be much appreciated.

check all your fuses also reset the pcm by removing the battery cables and depress the brakes for a min try checking your input speed sensor and shift solenoids for resistance good luck
