2003 Mazda Protege DX
Hello everyone,

My 2003 Protege DX is taking longer to start than it used to. It turns over for a few seconds then fires up, and once running it's fine. I tested the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump, and replaced the battery. The plugs & coils are about a year old. The battery is brand new.

About a month ago I replaced the air intake hose (between the airbox and engine) because the old one was cracked and throwing a CEL & code of lean fuel mixture. I cleared the CEL, replaced the hose, and it was fine for a while until this new problem began. This issue doesn't seem related, but it was recent so I thought I'd mention it.

So, I'm not sure where to look next. Is it possible that at 113,500 miles it's just getting older and taking longer to start? What do you think? Thanks!
