Removing the shift indicator assembly

Has anyone removed the shift indicator assembly? I assume the silver trim on each side is part of the assembly. Is it simply a matter of removing the shifter handle and popping it off? I'm buying a replacement for mine (it's scratched up pretty well) from a guy who's parting out his 5, but I want to make sure it's not a bigger job than I realize.

Pops right off, get your nails under that plastic.
