rearview mirror w/screen

I love this car, but can't stand parallel parking. I was at the dealership today to pick up my roof rack and saw a rearview mirror that has a screen with a view looking down at the rear bumper as you back up. Apparently the screen turns on when the car is put in reverse. I asked about it but they don't make it for the 5. Does anyone know of a place to get something like this?

Search for 'Gentex rearview mirrors'. IIRC, they're the supplier for all Ford/Mazda RVMs, and they have aftermarket options, and I believe they make one with the screen in it. You could probably mate up to an inexpensive camera and have it work just like the one you saw.

Another option might be to check Crutchfield for it.

My dad's SD truck has that option, and it's really nice. Bigger vehicles definitely benefit from it.

Agree, there are a TON of after market RVM camera systems, just got to look around, ...

Oh in Japan, my Premacy / Mazda 5 came with dual front and rear cameras. (yippy)

Well good luck, I'd post a link to the Japan one, but it's $1,100.00 and I don't think you want to pay for that.

I like the Azentek Smart Mirror, it has everything including rear view. The GPS shuts off and the camera pops up when in reverse. Awesome piece, but I don't know if you're willing to spend $800 on one.

take a look.

i can watch dvds and switch to look back with the camera. its also automatically goes to rear camera when i put it in reverse.

just an idea. i put the camera where it would have been on the Japanese version. any stereo shop can do it for you. it is had to get the camera wire there though.

Really nice feature, it should be great when driving on boring highways, screw paying attention to the road (lol2)
