Hey since you da man, I wanted to ask your opionion on something. By my figurin I'm puttion out about 498watts RMS. Do you think I need a capacitor, and if so 1 farad or .5 farad? The dimming of the lights isn't bad, but you've mentioned earlier that you can do damage to the alternator, and I really don't think that's what I want to be doing. Thanks.

I think a single 1 farad cap would stop most of the dimming. It won't stop all of it but it will definitly help.
You should be OK with the stock charging system with that power draw.

A capacitor won't stop an alternator from being damaged if the amps are asking for power then it can give. Basicly as the base hits the voltage of the car drops and the amps then need more amperage from the alternator to produce the same power so to some degree as the voltage drops from the subs hitting the alternator is stressed even more. A capacitor stops the voltage from dipping, hopefully, and allows the alternator to deliver less amperage to get the total desired wattage to the system.

The head lights diiming is the charging voltage of the car dwindling.

Usualy I never do less then 1 cap since a .5 doesn't cost a lot less and is equaly as much of a pain to install.

Thak you very much. I don't think I'm pushing enough power to do serious damage, except maybe during the long bass notes, I'll pick one up when I get the extra $$$. Any brands I should stay away from, other than the ones claiming outragous #'s for dirt cheap.

I get it from sounddoamin. They have some of the best prices, they are very reputable and don't sell any junk.

The fuuny thing about caps and terminal blocks ect is there are actualy 2 companies in malazia building everyones stuff. Its to spec though. Monster Cable was justifying there price for a while by saying the caps were overall better for a number of reason. I never saw any hard data so I don't believe it. Stinger, Phoenix gold , monster cable are all fine.
