Yeah, it's too bad your wife wouldn't let you make any more. Now that you have the blueprints and knowledge, you could do the others more easily. I would pay someone to make one of these for me. It was really sweet looking! I am impressed. I especially like the fact it angles toward the driver to make the gauges easier to read. Nice job!

Thanks....it's not so much that she wouldn't let me, but I couldn't devote ALL my time to it like I did w/ the first one! I suppose I would entertain the thought of making more if interested parties understood that there would require cutting behind the stock bezel piece to allow for the gauges to slide through & hook up (obviously this would have to be done by each person...I could only give instruction & tips), plus the fact that each one would be hand-fabbed & probably take about 2 weeks each (although, I could probably knock out multiples at once). Also, I would have to find out how much the stock bezel piece goes for at a junk yard in order to give an accurate price quote first.

great job! i didnt realize how much hard work go into these until i went to kens house and actually saw one in the process. it is a sanding nightmare from what i could tell. $80 is a damn steal for how much work goes into them.

yeah...it took me two days to sand mine down, and I really didn't get it as smooth as I wanted....but you can't see any flaws due to the paint. Thanks for the compliment!

Very true, Kevin. After seeing this in person, I must say you did one hell of a job on it. Bravo!!

Thanks Seth...I wish I was parked more in the middle of the lot @ the meet so I could have had more people see it! Maybe drum up some business!! :D

Best thing to do is start a new thread with a list of interested parties. Put a link to it in this thread, and see what happens. If you can't find enough gauge surrounds at local junkyards, you can always use www.copartfinder.com

I have used it before, and it works great! I have an account, but if you create one, it only costs about .39 to do a search. It will find you every Protege in the country if you want it to. Keep us informed. I would really buy one if you made them!

thats sweet!!! now someone take a picture of tripple pillar pod, the dual pod above and the single steering wheel gauge pod all in the same car
