CD player doesn't work in cold?

I'm having a strange problem. When I first start up the car and start driving, the CD player cuts in and out for at least 20 minutes until the car is nice and warm... then its fine. It's been very cold out lately (I live in Ontario), but I've never had this problem before. BTW, the radio works fine, it's just CDs that have a big problem. They cut in and out like crazy, with lots of static. I don't even play music loud.

Maybe the laser is slightly misalighned and the cold is just pissing it off.

i have same problem but i think its condensation on the cd and laser when the car and the dash is warmin up it causes condensation

Yeah, I have had that happen lately here too!
The dealer told me what mxzoom said - it's condensation building up on the CD and laser, just like it does on the glass!
They suggested taking the CD's inside at night which might help the play back in the morning / night.

My stock player skips more than a school girl going to school.

Everytime I go over the slightest bump, even the deflectors they put in the middle of the road for you to see at night, will skip the player. Pretty cheap.
