Does anyone know why the MS6 has an angled brace behind the seats?

I think its to help with body roll and better handling. I believe that's why the folding seats where not available on the MS6. Correct me if I'm wrong.

you are. the latch system is just hiding behind the cheap cover inside the trunk.

They are to stiffen the chassis by tying points together.

its to cut/slice your hands on

THIS! i had 1 rusted and 3 painted pieces, weird.

I want to eliminate these braces and open up my trunk pass through area.

I don't understand the advantage of using these braces over a rear strut tower brace.

More investigation required.

Not sure that I would characterize this response as "wrong". The bracing is there to stiffen the body and prevent roll. Because it is there, Mazda opted not to make the split-fold down option available on the car (although we know better), probably because of liability.

triangulation is always stronger than a strait brace of the same weight, which is probably why mazda opted for that design.

true it was not classed as an option, but it is still there.
wagonbacker9 put it best.
