Inner tie rod has is a tabbed lock ring. The tabs are bent towards the outside of the car. 1) Is this lock ring really necessary? 2) For removal I banged the tabs out with a screwdriver. How to I install the new one, since I would be bending them towards me?

I went to get my 2018 CX-9 aligned. The shop informed me that both front lower control arms are worn. The rear rubber bushing is more worn than the ball joint both both are showing wear. I'm going to replace with OE control arms. Anything else I should have done at the same time?
