engine problems

Hi Guys, I bought a Mazda MX5 Eunos recently, but the engine keeps freezing up first thing in the morning. Especially when it's cold. It takes a good three or four tries before anything happens. Is there anything I can do before I end up taking it to a garage? Thanks guys.
