bent rim

I brought my 2010 Mazda 3 in for service bc of road noise and poor handling. I was notified that i had a bent rim/wheel and that was the cause. They said i also needed two new tires because of the bent rim. If i don't get the two new tires, are there any issues i should be aware of? Safety?
