Probably a silly question but do you smoke in your car (shame on you!)? That's crazy though wow.

That royally sucks man, Im sorry to hear that. What kind of damage is done or did the whole thing go up in flames. If its any consolation i know how you feel.

Well its the front passenger side that got ****** up. the seat is fine but yes I do smoke in the car. but the thing is i had not smoked in the car for like a half hour before coming home. the weird thing is my wife's jacket was the one that was on fire inside the car and then it looks like the carpet cough fire. ****! 1-2, a 1-2-3-4...

You don't always die from tobacco,
Sometimes you just burn the inside of your car.

No you don't always die from tobacco,
Sometimes you just burn the inside of your car.

LMAO! Thanks man, I needed a laugh (first)

you have a stereo system wired in the car? have you done any kind of wiring in that area. And trust me half an hour doesnt matter if you got an ember inside the car. My buddy lit a ciggarette as he was leaving for work got here (20 minute drive) and about 20minutes later i am up in the bed of his truck putting a fire out caused be a ciggarette landing in his bed and catching the pine straw on fire.

EDIT: disconnect the battery until you inspect the wiring around the area on fire you dont want it restarting

i havent done any wiring there. but when i took it to circuit city the only thing they did were the speakers, but i dont think they would have to wire anything through there....on these cars, are there any wires under the passengers seat?

passenger seat belt wiring and i dont know if a harness runs in that area or not best bet is to check

thanks JA. I just called the guy from the insurance and explained to him how it happened and even he is confused and doesn't know what type of explanation to give. the apprasier is supposed to call me this week to know what will happen to the car.

We once had a car, a bad Taurus, catch on fire, and put it out fairly quickly. But a very wise person told me after that, if your car catches on fire, let it burn. It'll never be the same afterwards. Sorry to hear. :(

time to buy a s*** load of baking soda! That's weird that it would just caught on fire. Make me think twice before smoking in car now....
