WTB Stock MSP Protege Downpipe / FOUND IT!

Just need the restrictive cast downpipe piece. Mine broke where it meets the spring loaded flange. (bang)

Anybody have one from a downpipe install? Need one on my daily driver. Have paypal references etc.

you mean from the turbo to the resonator or just from the turbo to the springs?

There are two cast pieces. One from the turbo down the front of the car (don't need that one) the other is the j-pipe that is a 3 bolt flange in front and two bolt spring loaded flange at the rear (need that piece).

The broken piece is cast iron and about 12" long and has the heat shileds bolted on it top and bottom.

My turbo exhaust flange housing, heat shields, cats and s-pipe are all fine.

Are you out of warranty?
If not....Then make the dealer replace it.That piece should never break being a cast piece....unless you abused it somehow?

I agree. But I believe the reason my stock piece broke (an ear of the flange broke off) was incorrect re-installation of stock parts when I pulled my 3" high flow cat and down pipe. The resonator and cat were bolted up using standard bolts at the exhaust shop, not the spring bolts. I should have done the re-installation myself but was busy at work and had it done without thinking twice that the correct bolts/springs were at home on a shelf. My previous hand made system had a flex section so I did not need to use the spring bolts on it.

I could have the dealer do it and play dumb, but I would rather just make it right since it was really not the manufacturers fault and takes about 15 minutes to replace if I get my hands on a stock part.

mine too broke because the bolts that were on there were tightened too much. but if you have the stock parts you should be able to take it to mazda and get a replacment. Dont look at it as taking from mazda. Look at it as getting back from them what they have taken from so many of us.
