Why so many used MZSPD3s?

The honeymoon is over and people are realizing they are saddled with $400-$500 a month car payment. Mine isn't going anywhere. Lots of people buy stuff they can't afford or decide not to afford after a while. Look at the current mortgage default rate. :)
 
I agree the car is a keeper but $500 a month is no joke and if u dont have your s*** in order reality hits pretty fast.
 
My secret is to have another car that's $650 a month. The $450 for my MS3 doesn't seem so bad.
 
I only sold my other one because it was stolen and I got another one. There is no way I would sell my MS3. Best car in its class, no question. There are only a couple other cars that can even come close at the price, and I find them to be inferior overall. Fun to drive, practical, and reasonably priced... The MS3 is a winner.
 
two things come to mind.

1. Maybe the motor mount failed and the engine dropped on them.

2. Maybe they want the new white ones that are comming out soon.
 
Or maybe they woke up to the fact that they are unworthy of the car, and thought it'd be better to transfer ownership to an individual who is more deserving and capable of proper ownership/useage.

Yeah, that's it...(thumb)

Oh, and I would have bought one, but the 0% financing and $295/month payment I have on the MSP is too good to let go of, especially since the car has served me very well thus far and will be paid off in October 2008.
 
Another factor that may be coming into play is the fact that so many of the sellers think they're going to get over MSRP for their used Speed3. Used cars that cost more than new (of the same model) are likely to be on the market for a long time.

These guys are crazy. They must work on the logic that by them putting miles on the car that it goes up in value. Don't even get me started.

I agree. I might be able to see such a practice applied to a car like the MazdaSpeed6 which has been discontinued, but such retardedness confounds me when I can just walk over to a Mazda dealership and pick up a new MazdaSpeed3 at any time.

That is crazy...when I sold my "old" MS3, I looked at the market and didn't see anyone selling them for MSRP or more. I also live in the DC / Maryland area. Strange...

Just look at the link at the top of this post dude wants 24k that is msrp. I wouldn't pay msrp for a new one.
 
7 vehicles within 75 miles? That's crazy! I did a quick search and could only find 3 within ALL OF CANADA!! I'm sure there are a few more on some search engines I didn't use, but still - that seems like a lot of used ones going around there!

I was looking at a used one when shopping earlier this year. The young kid had his mother finance it and he blew it. First he was selling it (GT) for 22K on Autotrader and then they sold it back to the dealer, who raised the price to MSRP. And this was with a "lifetime warranty on the paint". Wonder what happened?

I think they are on the market because (in order of importance) a) over-spent, b) got in trouble with Johnny Law, c) realized it wasn't the car for them (prefer the ride of the Camry).

However, do they represent the used car market moreso than other make/models? It could just be a perceptual thing like, now I see more Mazdas on the road now that I own one. Same thing with my last car. It could just be that I'm a trendsetter! (jerkit)
 
I will say living in the DC area, I think there's a lot of speed3's here compared to most parts. For example, in my work parking lot there are two MS3s aside from mine (one belongs to a friend who bought it a week ago). DC is an area which has a lot of young professionals, which is a strong market for this car I'm sure. Also there's plenty of well off families here with spoiled kids, so I think Mazda sends more speed3's here than most parts.

Why so many are for sale? I have no clue, I'd rather sell my left nut then give up my MS3.
