Which SSAFC for MSP?

On the split second website, they sell 8 versions of the PSC1, otherwise known as the SSAFC. Which version will work best for our cars? The versions are as follows:

PSC1-001 Programmable Signal Calibrator w/Absolute MAP sensor
PSC1-002 Programmable Signal Calibrator
PSC1-003 Programmable Signal Calibrator
PSC1-004 Programmable Signal Calibrator AFM to MAF
PSC1-005 Programmable Signal Calibrator AFM to MAF w/Inv. Output
PSC1-006 Programmable Signal Calibrator Karman to MAF
PSC1-008 Programmable Signal Calibrator -- Late Model GM
PSC1-009 Programmable Signal Calibrator AFM to MAF HV Output

I am guessing the PSC1-001, but just wanted to make sure.

Protegegarage.com is the sole retailer for the unit used in MSP's so just buy from them. It is the 001 but on the instructions it says 020 so who knows which it really is lol.

I was told by Split Second that only the 020 works with the MSP. I just ordered one from Protege garage and it says psc1-020 on the device itself. Have other people ordered one from PG and gotten a model psc1-001? As far as I know the wiring is different on the two models.

he probably wants to order direct from split second like i do because its much cheaper then ordering through ken.....

Oh okay, well my unit just says PSC1 on it, but I got 020 on the instructions that came with it which is probably because it's the Version 2. I would bet that the 001 and 020 are the same thing, just version 2 of the 001.

When I talked to Split Second they said that the sole provider is Protege garage, and that other models do not work. Are you telling me that I was misled into purchasing the same product for more money? This seems very unfair, how much is the same device from SS?

Split Second = $239
ProtegeGarage = $399.95
Where did you get this quote? Did you tell them that is is for a MSP? Like I said earlier, I spoke with SplitSecond on the phone and was told that only the model sold from PG works with the MSP.

This is true.

Or so we're told...

I just looked over the datasheet on the PSC1-001 on SS website. http://www.splitsec.com/products/datapdfs/PSC1-001.pdf
I can verify that this is indeed different wiring than what comes with the PSC1-020 from Protege Garage. The 020 model contains wires to intercept between the ECU for the MAF sensor AND the o2 sensor. The PSC1-001 only has wires for the MAF sensor, and not the o2. I would imagine this would have a great effect on what the device actually does.
So, before anyone wastes money on the wrong product, you better do more research and come back to us.

maybe Ken from PG could pipe in? im days from ordering this and could use an extra 100$ in savings!

also, if Splitsecond tells you it will work, and doesnt. return it up their asses

It's not cheaper to go straight to Split Second. Add $100 to the SS price listed, if you want Data Acquisition for the wideband O2. The only benefit from contacting SS directly, is that they still have Version 1 still available.

Codex,

Since you have one, can you look at the datasheet for the PSC1-003, third set up diagram down? It seems like that model has the inputs and outputs present that we would need. Cause if that model would work, even if I have to add $100 for data acquisition from SS, according to their price list, that would still only be $299 compared to $399.

Thanks for everyone's input. Maybe just a shot in the dark, but if I can save some money, it's worth it.

split second will not sell the PSC unit for the protege outside of us. the ones listed on their site are not wired or setup to work for the protege. this has been covered time and again on this forum. we have an exclusivity arrangement with split second regarding the protege. off the shelf PSC units will not work with the protege. why do you think FICs or SAFCS off the shelf don't work for this car? they aren't setup for it.

i'm not ripping anyone off. my wholesale cost into a protege unit isn't even $239 or whatever whomever posted. i can't even why anyone would consider, having even been told by split second directly that only we sell a working unit for this car, that there would even be a debate to be had at this point.

you can order the FTC1 timing and fuel unit for the protege from split second directly.

i have a PSC1-003 sitting here. doesn't work, doesn't have a MAP Sensor, won't hold a tune on the ecu.
