Which springs for me?

So after a year and a half of riding around on my Ground Controls .. I've had enough. The roads around here are just too poorly maintained, and I have to do too much driving (for both classes & work), for the harsh ride that they give. The handling is great -- but my butt! Augh!

That said, I'm now looking to change back to springs. Only thing is -- I want the maximum possible drop.

I've been reading around (this thread really helped), and it looks like the springs that give the maximum drop would be Spool, or the ION Performance Race. However, either type is almost impossible to find.

Next up looks like the Eibach Sportlines, which are what I'm leaning towards at the moment.

But does anyone have any feedback on the Eibach Sportlines? Do they REALLY lower that much? For the life of me, I can't find any pics of them on a MSP -- not that those pics would really apply to me anyway, at least in the rear, since I now have Tokico Illumina struts.

I've also found Megan Racing springs that supposedly lower 2" .. but then according to what I read here on the forums, it's really only about 1.6" .. I'm worried that's going to happen with the Sportlines. That they claim 1.8" and it'll turn out to be 1" or something like that.

The last thing I want is to feel like my MSP is a 4x4 after my Ground Controls, so .. Advice?

I have spool springs on my car and they drop about the same as TEIN I remember one of my friends on the forums having sportlines and they were a really nice drop. I will try to find a pic

With those illuminas, snag yourself a set of Espelirs. Perfect drop, and fantastic ride quality.

Goldlines give a killer drop(see sig) but aren't that great for handling. I liked the ride, it wasn't stiff at all.

Do you have a source for those Sportlines? When I was looking, I couldn't find them anywhere. When I would find a site that said they had them, I would call to find out that they acutally did not have them.

Just giving you a heads up, but you probably already had an idea of how hard they are to find.

of all the springs I've seen, I'd say the goldlines give the lowest drop.

I considered those .. but it seems they're even harder to find than the Eibach Sportlines. Plus, they only lower an additional 0.02" over the Sportlines, I can't decide if the hassle to find them would be worth that extra lil' bit .. But do you know of a source where I could pick up the Sprints?

Oh, and there was also that 'bad' run of springs that Sprint did. I dunno how I'd avoid them.

I looked on the site .. 1.8" in front and 1.7" in rear. Not quite as much as the Sportlines -- and it gives a list price of $289 for the Intrax! Do you know of anywhere to buy 'em that actually does give a good deal? .. Cause buying directly doesn't look like the winning option.

I will wind up selling my GC's eventually -- I'll let you know when I put 'em up for sale.

Rush - when you ordered your GC coilovers did you get a specific set or was there only one for the MSP? I'm having some installed now and the mechanic says they don't fit over the struts, which are tokico, and i'm pretty sure are stock. or did ground control possibly send me a set for a base protege?

and to help your search, every car i've seen with eibach sportlines have had a great looking stance.

IDK I have GC coilovers on my ride for 2 and a half year on New York City Street, ride is harsh but i guess I'm used to it from driving real low cars for 6 years

The drop specifications are for a Ford Probe. Pretty sure you could find them on ebay for cheaper. Would it help if I posted up a profile shot of my car?

i'm interested in this as well.. i was just thinking it as I opened msprotege.com then i saw this thread so thanks Rush! lol.

My concerns aside from ride quality is the way the car was designed to handle with what it has. I wouldn't want to go with something that is more of a cosmetic drop and have the handling turn upside down to pure s***.

With saying that I also wouldnt want to put too much stress on the Tokicos.. so in the end I keep thinking true coilovers.

What kind of wheels/tires are you riding on? Are those 18" wheels and 35 series tires?

thought about progress??? i had a set on and the drop to me was great. unfortunately no pic, but it's very agressive looking. makes car sit right over top of tire with only 1 finger gap....if that. i still have them actually. i'd be willing to let 'em go cheap if you are intrested. only on car for maybe 2k miles before i did the ksports.
