Which option is right for me?

Ive been attempting to plan out a fuel management system, for a quad throttle-body 2.0L Pro, for weeks now but Im running into so much conflicting information Im not sure which option makes the most sense for my application. A big part of my problem is that I am a newcomer in the field of engine management; this, combined with the fact that I seem to be attempting something fairly unique within the Protg community, has left me very confused.

I was originally looking at the F10X to solve my problems, but the more I read up on engine management the more I see that (in my situation) it will be important for me to control timing as well as fuel, so the F10X is out. This led me to the MPI tuner, however Beau sent me a very brief email, along with some information I had requested, saying that he isnt sure the MPI tuner will work well in my situation either. I tried to turn to the SAFC II but it apparently isnt a viable option for the Protg either (based on the reading I did on this board after searching SAFC).

Im going to need to ditch my MAF sensor (as Ill have 4 separate intakes in place of the stock common plenum and singular intake tube) and replace it with a MAP sensor I plan to install on a vacuum manifold. So I need a means of switching from MAF to MAP. Ill also need to be able to modify both open and closed loop fueling and timing (although there seems to be some dispute on this board as to exactly when the Protg is in open/closed loop mode, and what sensors the ECU is relying on during each mode of operation).

Im wide open to advice from anyone well versed in engine management. If any-one can specifically, and correctly, list off how the Protg defines open and closed loop, and what sensors the ECU keys on during each of these modes of operation, that would be great.

I can also see that I need to become better educated in engine management before I go too much further into this project, so if anyone can recommend a good book to read on this subject please do-so.
