Which CAI to get?

With Mazda not giving a date on re-releasing the Mazdaspeed CAI, what is the recommendation? I've seen the Injen and HKS mentioned a lot, just want to make the 'better' choice.

They all work great from what everyone says. Cobb SRI is the cheapest and has pretty identical gains to all so thats why its on 8+ week wait. I have a CPE and I love it.

Just pick what you want and you'll like it.

- HKS doesn't make a CAI.
- I read somewhere that everyone should stay away from Fujita (not sure though).
- Injen is pretty good, not too sure about fitment as there was a local who had an issue with the intake and his shifter-weight banging into it while shifting into 3rd gear.

Other than that I think Cp-e and AEM are the other top notch brands.

- AEM has pretty much the same design as the Mazdaspeed CAI
- HPS intake (ebay brand) haven't seen any reviews of this brand.

I think that pretty much sums it all.

i vote for HKS... it's sounds so loud and awesome... witnessed both at the DYNO and the HKS did better... both guys had intake and bov... both recirculating.... and the hks sounds like a beast...

If I had to get another intake other than my ms cai I would probably wait for cobb sri or go with hks. I also like the aem

AEM = makes the MSCAI
Injen = Dynoed with biggest gains
Fujita = Junk
COBB = Wait for them to work out the bad plastic batching for who knows how long to get the dyno proven half gains

Should be noted that the current AEM is NOT the same as the mazdaspeed CAI, not even close. Seems to have proper MAF sizing and even includes an air-straightener. I am running an Injen, which also has proper MAF but no air straightener but also no CEL's. Cheapest intake that has at LEAST a proper MAF housing size is Injen, cheapest with air straightener is the AEM now. CP-E is nice but very expensive and the off-brand ones such as Fujita or HPS are rarely heard of, but appear to be generic 3 inch tube intakes.

Both do have the better MAF housing/mount out of what's out there. I can't find the AEM though - you're saying it DOES have the air-straightener while the MSCAI doesn't?
Looking like Injen is the way to go... it's well priced and I can find it!

Import Image Online has the AEM CAI. Get that instead of the Injen. The new AEM CAI has an air straightener and the correct MAF size (it has been redesigned since after the mazdaspeed CAI originally came out).

Coolio... I'm dumb though. What's the diff (other than audible) of atmo vs. recirc? Is there any perfomance gain either way?

My main goals are better breathing (CAI) and boost pressure keeping things mostly stock. Eventually I'll get the ECU re-flashed or get a dash turner.

If you run anything other than recirc on our cars, you will lose efficiency because the car won't detect the correct amount of air flow. Your car will not gain much in terms of power either way. The valve will just allow you to hold boost better. However, on the ms3, if you run VTA, it will possibly LOSE power. Our cars just aren't made to run on anything other than recirc.
