What will Mazda consider voiding the warranty?

K&N Air filter? I know my friends Mitsu the dealer refused repairs simply because he added a K&N air filter MItsu claimed road debri got inside the engine as a result of a non Mitsu air filter.

How about cold air intake? Would mazda say naah ahhh?

What if you went to change your oil somewhere else I would imagine you would have to hold on to those receipts in the event something where to happen then mazda would claim that you need to show proof you took care of the vehicle and that the right oil grade was added before they consider any warranty repair work on the engine or trans. I know this to be a fact since it just happened to my girlfriend but her car is another manufacturer.

almost anything aftermarket IF you develop a problem and it requires them to spend a nickle fixing it. the magnuson moss act (The federal minimum standards for full warranties are waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.)http://www.impalaclub.com/naisso/magmoss.htm should protect you, but in the real world the dealers kinda got you if you have aftermarket parts and they can try and say that's part of what contributed to the problem/repair.

i had a faulty egr valve and the dealer took care of me, but he pointed out that he didn't have to because i had a CAI and exhaust. it also depends on the dealer. if you are someone who cares about the warranty and it perhaps being voided, i wouldn't touch the car until after the warranty runs out.

they can void the warranty on the MAF sensor itself if it fails after you install a K&N filter because the traditional K&N filter uses oil and it has been known to foul up the MAF sensor on all these newer mazdas (its a bad design)
