what was the p5 replaced with

from test driving the p5, and mazda3 and 6, the p5 seems to be alot bigger than the 3. so is it built off the 6 platform

I read an article in road and track last septmber when i got my P5, it said that the new mazda 3 would be bigger. There is more room inside. It is 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider i believe.

it may be wider and longer, but there is no way you can get more stuff in the hatch. in fact, from what i could tell when i drove one last week, the hatch is narrower and way shallower than the p5. i doubt i could get my golf bag in the back of the 3 without having to prop it up in the corner.

The 3 is definitely bigger, I test drove one and I felt like I was driving a tank compared to my P5 (felt a lot like a matrix). There may be more power but I still like the P5 better. It's more responsive and thus feels a lot quicker.

the only way the 3 is better than the p5 is in power. the p5 is a runway model while the 3 is a bit on the chunky side
