Hello just bought this vehicle and I have a few questions my vehicle recommend 0W20
I plan do use amsoil full synthetic 0w20 I live in Edmonton and its -20 atm what oil brand do you guys recommend
Also what does Mazda recommend oil change every 5k or 8k not sure thx;)

Amsoil Signature series. At $10 per quart, it's a little pricier than most other oils, but it's got a 25,000 mile change interval so you can save by virtue of not changing oil as often. I tend to go about 15,000 between changes, myself as I am not quite willing to test the mileage claims on my own engine as of yet. :p

at least while under warranty, I'd stay with Mazda's recommended oil change intervals. I'd assume your 2011 is still covered and Mazda might frown on going 2 to 3 times their recommended range.

I know engines have changed and improved since then but years ago I spoke to a guy that owned an oil analysis place and he said it isn't as important what you put in the engine as it is changing it so that the chemicals, moisture and other bad stuff that ends up in the oil with use isn't allowed to build up.

I highly recommend you test the used oil at Blackstone. Are you using their 25,000 mile oil filter as well?

Oil is cheap insurance, I'm sticking with 5,000 miles on synthetic.

I was curious on this subject as well. The manual recommends Castrol Syntec 0W20.

I was quite the fan of Penzoil Ultra on my G35, I was thinking of sticking with that. I still get 3 oil changes on the house where I bought my Mazda, so afterwards I will switch to the Ultra (although i will use the Ultra on the wifes' '11 CX-7 since her oil changes are up).

I live in the tropics - Jamaica, planning on getting a 2010 Mazda 3S 2.5L, what engine oil is best?

Thanks

Peace

I've been using Mobile1 for years with great results. For around $5-$6 USD/quart it's not the cheapest nor is it the most expensive but it does the job very well. Also, 5,000 mile oil changes are your best bet if you do the typical stop-n-go driving and live in freezing climates or very hot/humid ones. I've only seen tractors with diesel engines go 10k-15k miles on an oil change, then again those engines have 2 or 3 oil filters and a lot more than 5 quarts of oil. I also like Pennzoil and Castrol brand oils, they do a good job too. Just stay away from those $1/quart motor oils, the kind they sell at Walmart.

Be aware if you decide on Amsoil that the new Amsoil filters for your application are only rated for 15k (miles). So if you are figuring on going 25K on a change you should be looking at a filter change mid-way

mobil1 0w-20 is only 24.99 for the 5qt jug at walmart year round price....that's basically all I need ;-)
