Rust? Didn't see any in the picture, but I don't normally see springs as an item that breaks like that.
Yup -- broken just like in the bulletin posted -- basically near the bottom.
Wow; you must live in a really nasty climate!
Yeah I am from Ontario, Canada
Thanks for the info!
I did end up replacing with KF7228011C

Installed clear bonnet protector on my Akera bought new last week. Decided it should have one after we got it home, dealer sold me the part at trade price.

Taking it to have window tinting done tomorrow.

Baby’s got new shoes!

Put on a set of Continental Cross Contact LX25’s today. The previous set, Conti True Contacts, were great tires but wore down to 4/32nds in 38k miles. With the credit from 80k mile warranty, and $110 rebate from Continental, got a real sweet deal on the new set at Discount Tire.

I installed a KYB stock and spring combo this past weekend. I like the stance overall as it is a very mild drop ~30mm. But I'll likely increase the front strut spacer from 10mm to 20mm to even the chassis. The high booty ride height of these thing drives me crazy for some reason. Also, yes the rears are adjustable.

www.rhdjapan.com P/N: LKIT1-KF5P4 I've used them for several JDM purchases in the past.
Interesting. I'm a bit concerned about the low rear spring rates. I would want to pair them with a bigger rear sway bar for sure. But I'm also concerned about the sagging and the inability to load the rear of the car with any meaningful amount of weight.

Series: Lowfer Sports Plus
Rear Damper Adjustability: 14-way

OEM spring rates are:
Front 2.94kg/mm
Rear 4.11 kg/mm
The rear is stiffer than OEM by ~7%. I had no issue with a saggy rear running the OEM springs so these will be fine. AutoExe offers mild drop springs with F 3.1kg/mm & R4.44kg/mm spring rates which I happen to also have. lol

According to Corksport, the rates for the Turbo AWD car are about 3.0k and 5.2k.

And my bad, I was mixing up your car with the other guy who had the white CX-5 with Japanese springs which were too soft and sagging in the rear.

Looks like you got about a 1" drop and the ride is probably close to stock because KYB also makes the Mazda dampers.

Its all good, I saw his thread as well. Around a 1" drop is all I wanted. If I could have lowered the rear .5-.75" by itself I probably would have done that. I'll try to write a review of the suspension system this weekend just for extra data in the forum.

Not sure how Corkspork came up with their numbers, the front rate mirrors others but their rear is way different. AutoExe listed several spring rates of CX-5 (OEM in parenthesis) and nearly every other Mazda model. To add complexity the Autoexe rears are progressive like the Corksports vs the linear KYBs!

And yes the ride is very close to stock just better from aftermarket dampers. Less body roll and smoother ride with the rear dampers turned down. Overall its just better and how it should/would have come from factory IF they offered a sport version. IMO
