what good are wires?

I just got a 99 impreza 2.5rs and it needs a tuneup

as part of this tuneup my mechanic says it needs new wires and plugs. Since im replacing em I was thinking of going with aftermarket wires like nology or somethin, but what are the advantaged of doing so? And what are the disadvantages if any?

Can't go wrong with NGK plugs and wires.

The nology wires typicaly are made of more resilant materails so they are less likely to crack and break over time. Also they allow for a minamal amount of extra current flow.
