I am wondering if anyone can answer my question which is it posible to bolt on any of the various turbo kits avaliable for the 2.0 engine to the 1.8 motor

also are there any bolt on kits avalable for the 1.8 engine and how much would cost to bolt on a kit.
Does anyone know of any eninge kits that can boost a 1.8 motor's power from 92kw to about 130-140 kw at the fly.

If so it would be greatly appreaciated if any one can offer any information or advice as i would like to see my car run mid to high 15 1/4 miles and get 0-100 in a mid to high 7 seconds

First of all welcome to the forum.

I don't think anyone makes a turbo kit for the Protege/Astina except for StreetDreams(Hiboost kit) but that suits only the 2 litre.

But Wagnermotorsports in the US have made one for 1.6 litre but i don't know about a 1.8. th link is http://www.wagnermotorsports.net/projects.php?pid=21

Other than that i don't know who else does. best option is probably going custom

thank you for those sites and i was wondering if you would know wether or not the 1.8 and 2.0 have the same exhaust manifold as that is the only thing i think i might have trouble in tracking down if i was to put together a custom turbo kit

well tidy you did say hi here....so ignore that part on my email....but still tell us a little more about yourself - ie where you're from, current mods etc...

anyway, no 1 mod - full exhaust, not just cat back. 2 cold air intake (ie injen), 3, custom cams. that'll get you up to a nice amount of power no problem

and like alex said, the 1.8 and 2.0 are essentially the same engines, so yes, the 1.8 is just as easy to tune as the 2.0

i drive a 02 mazda protege sedan its stary blue so far i have only done cosmetics but i have big plans for my car.
so far inside the car i have sp20 seats, stereo wise i have a decent pioneer head unit 6" jbl power serries splits, jbl 6x9s in the back and 2 jbl 4 channel amps and and 2 12" jbl subs
So far out side i have lowered the car with king low springs, i have 16" roh adrenalins with some cheap falken tyres and fog light a spoiler

performance wise i havent done much just a 2" cat back system and a kn air element in the box. i doesnt go to bad my friends and family are suprised how well it goes it comfortable beats lancers and has beat turbo mitsubishi cordias, more recently it beat a brand new integra luxury edition which we couldnt believe as the integra weighs the same but has about 118kw.
The only reason why it hasnt had much done performance wise is because of lack of funds and my old man wants me to wait for the warranty to run out and then ill start playing with the engine at this point in time i am not sure wether to go turbo or hardcore na i will chose based on which will still be drivable on a daily bases and that it is why i am opting for turbo as most hardcore na cars i have seen cars are too highly strung and go through clutches and diffs like theres no tommorow i will post pics of my car soon so you can rate it and give some advice as i am still heaps young and am lacking on knowledge on 323s

bloody hell, that sounds god awfully similar to my setup!! except for wheels, jbl amps, engine (i'm 1.6), and KN filter (i use unifilter)

sounds very nice, did you get the two tone interior???? btw where in aus are you??

if you turbo it should be quieter too..

just goign back on your first post, what sort of times are you doing at the moment?

Welcome, Have you ever thought of building it yourself. I did and it was touch and go for a bit, but after alot of reading, It all came together!

If you are building it, I don't see how it would make any difference...

Here is what I came up with...

If you dont mind me asking what sort power r u puting out at the wheel and how expansive was it compared to the hi boost kit

The Engine was rebuilt with a lower 8.5:1 compression and at 12.5 PSI the car normally puts 210 down on the road. It's on a dual stage with 7PSI for 1st and 2nd. The turbo kit that I made was more about doing it than just having a turbo car. It was rather expensive...much more so than a kit, however, like I said...this is my hobby.

Have a look at the domain page if you would like a very detailed story...

the job you have done i must say looks great, what is your best time after turboing the car
I have yet to find a clutch that will hold the 12.5 PSI I have stopped at for now. I raced a Mach 1 from a roll at 30 Km/H and was able to match and then pass by 157Km/H. We ran right to 220 Km/h which is almost he redline for the P5.

The engine and fuel system are setup for 15 Psi...So the CLUTCH IS THE LIMIT (For Now)
