what does the kartboy bushings do?

I just have a question about the Kartboy bushings...

If I just install the bushings without the short shifter, what improvement(s) will I notice??

makes the s*** alot tighter and smoother..removes the play fromthe gears....I say its a DEF improvement for the money!

The stock bushings are much softer rubber than the Kartboy's is so it stiffens things up a lot!
Put your car in gear, then try to move the shift-lever around. See how it moves around a little bit? The kartboy will rid you of that sloppiness.

The Kartboy bushing is not attached at the shifter. It is to replace a bushing where the support brace attaches at the engine.

You replace it independantly of the shifter. It removes the side to side play in the shift linkage.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'll probably end up getting the bushings and the TWM short shifter. I like the TWM shifter b/c the kit includes the spacers to account for the heat shield clearance.

im sure you could just use washers with any other shifter. I just bent mine down, and have had no problems. Definitly get the bushing either way.

th only reason it comes with the spacers is becuase it is the only one that has trouble with hitting the heatshield....mine has absolutely no trouble with the heatshield in any gear

I just installed the Kartboy bushings this morning...my first mod on the MSP. I didn't notice a reduction in side-to-side play while in gear, but shifting 'feels' tighter/cleaner (less mushy) with better defined gates.

On a side note, this is an extremely easy and inexpensive mod to do on your car ($25 or less). Very little mechanical expertise is required, and the Kartboy instructions are actually very good. No performance gains or throw reduction, but I would recommend it to anyone who thinks the stock shifting feel of our cars needs improvement.

So does anyone else have problems with the heatshield and Kartboy shifter on a MP5??????

If the clearance is okay, I'd rather go with the Kartboy shifter instead of the TWM.

What are the pros/cons of the different SS kits? I mean, B&M is really NOT that much more (I've seen $139, and a local dealer, Intense Motorsports in S. Miami, quoted $145).

Anyone? Anyone?

For $135US, you get the Kartboy shift lever, knob and bushings. Plus, Tom is a forum member and a nice guy, so you know the customer service is gonna be top-notch. He even kicked down some stickers and a free shirt when I got my stuff.
There might even be a GB going on right now. If so, the price will prolly be more like $105 shipped to your door.

(direct)Get the Kartboy!!

I've never had any problem with the heat-shield. I gave it a little tug, and the shifter clears fine.

I didn't get a shirt! :wtf: I second that the Kartboy is a great buy and #1 choice. The heat shield was not a problem for me either.

Tom sent me a freebie because I went through hell with some bozo who owns a performance shop around here. 2 weeks after I ordered my Kartboy stuff, he still didn't have it, so I pm'd Tom about him and Tom told me he hadn't dealt with this guy in a year.
He sent me over to Spoolin' and they had my stuff delivered within a week.
