T Tom03es Mile High Zoom-Zoom Contributor : 2003 Protege ES Dec 17, 2007 #2 My car starts to go stupid rich at about 3250 rpms. As far as the idling, the coil packs are known culprits for wierd things. You could also have a spark plug/wire issue. Just a couple guesses.
