Weatherstripping

Anybody else having trouble with the weatherstripping on the back doors? I've had it to the dealership twice for this. I intend to call the number that came with my plant about it.

No but now it makes me want to check mine. Are they coming off? Or is it something else?

Only problem I've come across is the shift lever for the automatic transmission. The little plastic sleeve under the shift gate was getting caught on the black plastic trim making it impossible to shift back to Park and shut the car off... without having to press down to let it slide. It's getting fixed at the shop now.

this made me extremely paranoid as well... i went and checked the stripping and it certainly isnt uniform by any means the entire way around... but its not falling off or anything. idk what its supposed to be or how it should appear normally. i wash my car by hand and it hasnt been run though an automatic wash except for maybe when the dealer washed and delivered it to me. either way, ill be keeping an eye out on it.

The weatherstripping on all doors seems to come off with ease. There is one clip that holds them in place in the rear corner of the door. Mine is not coming off but I can see how easily it is to pull the whole strip right off. The weatherstrip itself is good material it's just there isn't enough places it clips into to hold it in place.

Yes....exactly. It comes off that one pin. I don't even use the back doors more than about once a week.

I have this issue also. I thought of epoxying a larger button or round piece of plastic, but since you others have this issue, I'm sure Mazda will develop a fix soon enough.

There is now a new pin that takes care of the problem. The dealership said to rub a little armor all on it so it doesn't stick.

Yes, mine does this. It's worse in summer when the stripping gets hot and tacky. I asked my dealer a couple months ago, and they started talking jury rigging techniques to fix it. I'm going to wait til spring and if there's no tsb I'll fix it myself. I told the dealer to report it to Mazda, but who knows if they bothered or not, since they just shrugged it off as a minor nuisance.

Thought I would revive this thread. Anyone had this fixed by Mazda dealer? Now that the weather is warming up, my rear door seal is coming off the "clip" again. Only does this in warm weather as the weather stripping gets sticky and sticks to the door jamb when you open the door, pulling off the stripping from the top left clip (looking from inside the car-left side).

I don't know if it makes a difference, but mine was one of the first ones built. (has a 2012 build date) I took mine back in and found out that there's been a design change. I think the pin heads are wider. Don't let them cheap out on you....make them replace the whole thing. After that, rub some Armor-All on them to keep them from sticking occasionally. I do it when I wash the car. They haven't come off again.

I had mine in to the dealer for an oil change yesterday, and they replaced the rear door weatherstrip fasteners with the new (redesigned) fasteners Mazda is using now (for late 2014's and all 2015's), as well as made repairs per TSB 09-036/14, which addresses the famous "wind noise" issue reported by many early adopters of the early 2014 models. They replaced using a new design "inner" weatherstrip on both the front doors as well as new beltline window moldings, also on both front doors (had to take door trim off to do it), as well as new door trim piece. Sounds better but I still detect some wind noise from the drivers side external mirror area. The TSB is a two parter (came out Aug 28 2014), with one fix labeled as "A" (easier of the two, tech diagnosis based on masking tape applied over offending parts) and the more comprehensive fix labeled procedure "B" (more involved and includes all four doors and some new padding for the inside of the drivers side external side mirror, about 3 hours of tech time and parts usually need to be ordered with Mazda corporate blessing and dealer diagnosis from what I understand). As it was, my vehicle was there for two days, they had to order the moldings and new weatherstrip package even for "fix A" (I was aware of that in advance and dealer is very good about supplying me with a loaner vehicle, a 2012 "Six" this time). I'll call it good for now, much better than it was initially and my dealer's tech is great (28 years of experience working on Mazda's). I'm satisfied for now. Just wish when they wash the car they wouldn't leave the damn water spots, spent some time today cleaning those up with Meguiars Quick Detailer! Kudos to Mazda for finally formally addressing the issue with the new TSB though, I brought a copy with me when I talked the dealer about this. I also use 303 Aerospace Protectant on all the weatherstrips on my car (doors, trunk, engine bay, etc) and have never had any problems with them sticking in the summer heat as some others have reported in this forum. Hope this helps those in the same situation! Rampage
