general info for all:

No aftermarket part voids a warranty, unless it is directly related to the cause of the work.

Example 1: turbo timer on your car, and your radiator blows. The work WILL be covered.

Eample 2:boost controller on your car, you crank it to 12psi and blow a rod through your oil pan. better scrape your pennies together cause you voided the warranty by overboosting, thus causing the need for warranty work.

To get all the info you need for warranty claim protection goto http://www.enjoythedrive.com/san/. Here is info from Sema (Specialty equipment Market Association). Follow this link to learn more about SEMA, and the benefits it brings to us, the enthusiasts. http://www.sema.org/content/?id=7372

True... but dealerships don't see it that way at all. least not mine.

Dragon, let me clarify. If its bolt on external parts, it would not. If your putting cams, pistons, ect in yeah you voided the warranty.

And dealers do see it that way. They have to comply to the laws set forth by legislature. follow the link in my first post here to see what your legislative rep can do for you and what laws protect you already.

Ignore the little guys up north :p Us canadians get no peace...there's even a bill being talked about in ontario parlement to ban all aftermarket performance parts on cars, and making them illegal, anything from aftermarket window tinting, to like intakes, exhausts, bascically anything not stock.

[edit] here's the site http://www.modracer.com/bill241.asp [/edit]

yeah but that depends you have to take it to court if they do void you war. I've heard them say that intake dirupts the airflow than what the motor was designed for so there you go engine and powertrain is voided. Best thing to do is do stuff you can take off the car if you have to (hence dont mod the stock parts) Its BS in my Opion. How bout this Your local Mazda dealer browsing this board and voiding you war. about stuff you have said on here (happened before other places)

Back in the sixties, the Zone Managers used to go down to the tracks on the weekends and write down the VINs of all the cars there then go void the warranties on Monday morning. They decided after the onset of the muscle car years that they would rather have the cars at the track to promote them instead. (This won't happen with Mazda). For some reason I remember that this happened in New England mostly, around the Naval bases. I guess those guys would tear it up after getting back from sea with all thier saved money.

They will screw with you terribly regardless of what you do or say. My wife is in law school and if she has learned anything, it is the one cardinal rule of law:

IT DEPENDS

It all depends on who your lawyer is. The Magnussen-Moss Warrantee ACT helps us, as well as support of SEMA, the premier auto advocate. I agree that the best thing you can do is to remove your mods when you take it in for service.

I take off my CAI when I go in for oil changes at the dealership. Pain in the butt? Yes. But when my turbo fries, I don't want anything threatening the warrantee issue. I don't want them to have any ground to stand on.
