Warped Rotors - Post your details

:
My Car is ORANGE POO!!!
I wanted to tally how many people have had warped rotors and when they've occured (ie, mileage)... maybe we'll have a case for others who run into the problem and are denied work.

Please don't mess this thread up.

Mileage / Front / Rear / Warranty replaced / Warranty resurfaced / Warranty Denied / Dealership serviced & State

So for me:

12,000 / Front / Warranty Replaced / Wolfe Mazda BC

4K front and back. Havnt gotten it checked out yet but i know my car. Park Mazda Of Wooster Ohio.

20,000 kms/ I have started to notice a shudder when braking from high speeds, going to have the dealer inspect it at next service.

4500miles, fronts resurfaced under warranty, Grecco Mazda NJ (don't go there), rotors are very slightly shuddering again at 7800miles. Will get corksport next time, but am checking with Sansone at the next service to see if I can get factory new rotors on the TSB.

I had rotors replaced under warranty. Now here is the problem, some of you guys maybe using to much torque on the lug nuts. This can warp your rotor because the stud is already welded to the rotor, rather then a lug bolt threading into the rotor. I was standing on my ratchet to get the lug nuts tight & I may have warp the rotor myself. A good dealer can find out if it was over torque by using a torque wrench & seeing how much torque was needed to loosen your nuts.
This may not be the case with everyone, but its something to think about.

if the rotors were warped, would you notice a wobble any other times besides hitting the brakes? I thought it would only happen under braking.

Since my winters were put on, I've had this aweful wobble. Just blaimed it on a bad rim/or tire. She's actually in the shop today getting those replaced under warranty. It wasn't balancing because they been checked twice.

Is there any other way of telling that your rotors are warped other then during braking? I dont really notice anything while breaking but reading all these other post I have concluded that many peoples rotors had to be replaced early and I dont want to be driving around on bad rotors.

16000 miles/fronts/ dealer refused/ needed pads anyways so had em resurfaced and pads changed at same time.

22500 miles/ fronts/ it just flooded here 2 days ago and went through water that really didn't look that deep. Warped the s*** out of em. just the fronts though. oh well

MazdaSpeed0020: Only symptom is wobbling during braking - if your car's not doing that, chances are very good (99+% according to a scientific gut check) that they're not warped.

Oh - I re-torqued the lugnots as soon as I got the car home (25.7 miles) - checking lug nut torque is a good idea with discs as improper or uneven torque CAN DEFINITELY warp the rotors - I have some experience with that. Sometimes re-torquing the lugs and driving a couple hundred can bring 'em back - not often, but sometimes (again, had that happen too).

Use a hand-held torque wrench - the air guns are not that accurate.
