hey guys.. I recently bought a used wagner turbo kit

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106045&highlight=wagner+turbo+kit

I knew that in the past some people had complained about the manifolds. The pic of the manifold in the thread above isn't too clear. The manifold I recieved looks almost identical to equinox's T3/T4 wagner kit. So here are the questions..

- I wanted to get this manifold jet hot coated (durability, etc.). Do you think it is worth spending the money on this one? should i invest in a manifold that is better or will this one hold up?

- This is a long shot but would it be possible that since this manifold is almost identical to the pics I saw in equinox's post, that this might be the T3/T4 kit? I can't tell from looking at the turbo because I don't know the difference between the two.

Thanks!

post pics... and we can prolly tell you.

depends on how much money you wanna spend. You want to spend 200 plus bucks to jet hot it (id send all my hot parts) or 900ish on a new better mani. My moto is if its not broke dont fix it.

here are the pics!!

that doesnt look big enough to be a t3/t4, in fact it looks like a T3 to me. the mainfold is a T3 flange which means if you want you could mount a t3/t4 to it. What are your plans? unless the turbo is bad i wouldnt see a need to upgarde.

well i planned on jet hot coating the manifold and installing the kit for now. Down the road I would like to forge the bottom end and up the boost maybe 280 whp range maybe a little more maybe a little less. This won't be probably for a good year or so. As long as the mani will hold up I don't care how it looks or what not.

When is this going in the car? Hopefully soon.

yeah bro within the month. The new transmission is in (7 hours on the floor hehe) and I just ordered the mazdaspeed motor mount #3 to replace my torn stocker.

doesn't look like a t3/t4. Reagen's(Equinox) is noticably larger.

Coating the manifold won't make it last any longer as far as I know but it'll help keep heat inside the manifold, which will increase efficiency.

yeah the t3/t4 was a long shot. I was just curious. The size of the turbo really isn't my concern. I was just really curious about why the manifold is so similar from what I can see since his was supposed to be redesigned for the t3/t4. I also tried to call Wagner and left a message. I'm still waiting for a response.

-Yeah sounds good Anthony lol Thanks..

Yeah I guess I'll coat it. If it cracks then I guess I'll splurge and give MAM or HiBoost a call.

Coating the manifold will not make it last longer especialy on a crappy one.. Wagner has a bad rep for putting out crappy turbo kits. The weight difference between a T3 and a T3/T4 is only 1-2lbs.The manifold will crack regardless unless you put something on it to support the weight. Personally I would not spend the money to coat a manifold that has poor design and craftmanship. Enjoy it while you can and start to save up for something else.

I would have to agree here. I have seen a wagner mani catch fire on the dyno after glow red hot. It was a different design then that one, but still same bulder. Spend the money and get a good mani like an MAM mani or go to cast mani and not worry about s*** like that. With no bracing, I see that mani cracking later down the road.

Oh yeah, it's definatly a T3, I have a T3/T4 and the compressor housing is way to samll to be a T4

wagner warranties his manifolds and all welds for life. My engine has both motor mounts, and vibrates a freakload. If it is going to crack, it would have already.

Yep my Wagner manifold did the same thing, I even had it repaired, but once I uped the boost it just couldn't handle it. After talking to Kooldino and Big Timm I went with a cast iron one, and that has been working great.
