Viper 5701

I tried searching but could not find anything on this so here goes...

I recently had a viper 5701 installed and the alarm seems pretty great so far. But I just have some questions about some of the programing. So far the remote start works perfectly fine, but for some reason I can't seem to get the turbo timer to stop the car after a minute instead of 10 minutes. To anyone who is familiar with this alarm, can I simply reprogram the timer countdown to shut off after a minute or am I going to have to have the installer use a bitwriter?

Also a little off topic, but why would someone need a timer to have the car start every three hours and turn off? Just curious about that one.

Thanks

The reason you would want to have the car turn on every 3 hours and turn off is for really cold climates. My old truck alarm had that feature as well. Supposed to make starting the car a lot easier since the engine runs every few hours, rather than sitting in -40C for 10 hours.

I never tried mine out, so I can't say for sure how it worked. I know my old work had the plugins for block heaters that turned on for about 10 minutes every few hours, and that helped a lot. (Unless I was about 2.5 hours after the last turn-on, but it still seemed better than nothing.)

As for the turbo-timer, just take it back to where you got it installed. They 'should' do it for free, the place I got mine did everything for free afterwards. (for small reprogramming stuff that is...)

Makes sense then. I guess living in Florida weather for so long has made me not realize summer isn't year round everywhere lol.
