Vibration while accelerating. (Felt primarily in second gear)

Get ready CX5 owners. If you feel a vibration under acceleration, the most in second gear, it is characteristic of the vehicle.

I had my front axles changed for the vibration @ approx. 5000 miles. Fixed the problem.

Now the vibration is coming back. No new axles this time. My dealer was informed by the regional service manager with the aide of a Mazda engineer that the vibration is a characteristic of the vehicle.

Why did the new axles fix the problem for approx. 5000 more miles you ask? I was told that it takes that long for the NEW parts to break in and allow to vehicle to show its true characteristics I guess?

So that's it. They didn't do anything for me. I guess that means live with the characteristic that wasn't there when I purchased the vehicle? Just get use to it when it decides to BREAK IN and show its true characteristics.

Hmmmmm.....My CX-5 has over 16,000 miles and is as smooth as glass in every gear.

I guess after 2 years and 28K miles my CX-5 is not broken in...

I agree. I was ready for that response. I think my CX5 was doomed from the beginning. It was overfilled with oil @ the dealer. Never checked it since it didn't use any oil the first 5000 miles. so, I put on 5000 miles with the oil filled about 1/4 inch over full mark. On top of that my CX5 was backed into and a hole put in the bumper @ the dealer by an employee. They replaced the front bumper cover but its not like a factory paint job. I think I just need to start over with a new CX5?

That's probably the biggest concern... Mmm foaming of oil/air, oil blowout through seals, and increased crankcase pressure. Doesn't the manual state that the warranty should be voided if oil is overfilled? Big screw up on the dealership's part.

Yes. Oil level was up to the twist in the dipstick. Beginning to think they never changed the filter and added the 4.8 qts. as if they did?

Inspecting Engine Oil Level

1. Be sure the vehicle is on a level surface.
2. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Turn it off and wait at least 5 minutes for the oil to return to the oil pan.
4. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.



5. Pull it out again and examine the level.

The level is normal if it is between Low and Full.

If it is near or below Low, add enough oil to bring the level to Full.

CAUTION

Do not add engine oil over Full. This may cause engine damage.

6. Make sure the O-ring on the dipstick is positioned properly before reinserting the dipstick.
7. Reinsert the dipstick fully.

But I doubt a 1/4 inch will damage an engine, many things are possible with the riight combination.
