v8 rx7

350 liters, thay car must be as big as a semi.

There is a guy on probe talk (my home) who is putting a V8 in his girls FD because he is to ignorant to learn about rotarys.

thats not being ignorant...the ls1 swaps are becoming really popular and i would do it if i had the money and i will do it when i get the money!

Argh, RX = Rotary. Sorry, LS1 swaps are garbage.

Pistons DO NOT belong in a ROTARY CAR.

I second that. if you want a coupe with an LS1, get a Camaro or a Firebird

My Rotary Powered vehicle will destroy any Piston engine it comes across.

hmmm... lets see

LS1 powered fd.... 25 lbs heavier than with a 13b, 350 hp stock, with cams and exhaust, look for 350 - 400 at the wheels. Any other bolt ons make a lot of power easy. Loads of torque. 25 mpg. VERY RELIABLE and capable of lots of easy hp and torque.

13b powerd fd....to get to 400 whp you better have a nice big turbo and intercooler as well as fuel upgrades, engine management, all bolt ons. Ok now you will get about 10-15 mpg. Your engine will only last about 50k if your lucky.

someone said "if you want a ls1 powered coupe, then why dont u get a camaro"
Ok first of all, thats probably the most stupid comment ive ever heard. We have rx7s because we love rx7s. If we loved camaros we would have camaros. How many camaros do you see on the road...how many fds? The best reason to replace your engine with an ls1 is bc of the reliablility. Whats the achilles heal of the rx7...reliability. How many turbo 13bs do you see with 150k miles on them that havent been rebuilt....NONE

There a 2nd gen rx-7 that has a chevy small-block in it that races autocross here...
When it roars by.. I have to say "Ahhh... the beautiful sound of rotary *cough*"(quote by KCBHIW)

kind of silly to swap out the car's one unique component. i know i'd be unimpressed to find out that rx* had no rotary.

I second that. I'd buy an RX-7 or RX-8 because it had a rotary engine in it. Like it or not that's what I'd have and my only choice would be to upgrade to a better rotary engine or add parts that will enhance performance.

Same holds true for putting a rotary in the protege5.

more power, more reliable, probably better fuel economy, roaring V8

but oh noooo!!!! no rotary engine????? my pussy hurts!!!!!

I hope you plan on keeping your Piston powered FD. They instantly loose ALL value as soon as one is swapped in.

If you loved your RX-7, you'd keep your Rotary. Camaros weigh close to the same as FD's.

V8's feel too truck like and old-fashioned to me. No RPM's. Ever thought of a 20B? Would cost a little more but it would be sooooooo much better.

As for power? Last year at a car show in washington I witnessed a 1040 RWHP FD. It ran on a Street Port 20B (3-Rotor) with a single Turbo. I also witnessed a Street Port 13B 2nd Gen putting out 744 RWHP.

2 Days ago I talked to a kid who was aiming for 500RWHP in his 2nd Gen.

All claimed they were daily drivers and ran on Pump Gas.

And I passed a 400cui powered 2nd Gen at the track last season in my buddy's First Gen.

So far the only reason a V8 is better is that its more reliable.
