USB not recognized on Infotainment screen via car charger

:
2018 CX-5
Curious if anyone has experienced something like this, or knows what the fix could be. My wife and I have long used this device in our 2018 CX-5: https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

We have previously plugged a lightning cable into it and our iPhones, and we have been able to access content via USB. Very recently the USB ports have been greyed out on the infotainment screen when either of our mobile devices is plugged in, even though the iPhones are continuing to charge fine. If we plug the lightning cable directly into the USB ports in the console, the USB works normally on the infotainment screen. Thinking that our 4-year-old Anker charger had gone bad, we bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned). Same problem.

This is a relatively minor annoyance, particularly since the Bluetooth works on the infotainment screen, but I'm curious if anyone has seen this. I kinda miss the podcast art on the screen. ;)

Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly but it is not possible to establish a USB data connection by connecting thru a simple 12 volt cigar lighter adapter. The only thing those adapters can do is convert the car's 12 volt DC power to 5 volts DC to charge or power a cell phone or similar device.

It would seem to me that you were previously connected thru bluetooth. I don't know if the podcast art can display thru bluetooth or not as my phone is most always plugged into the console usb port using Carplay.

There is no reason to believe a lighter plug could connect to your audio system. I think you just discovered you were using bluetooth all along.
