hey, my first time on the mazda forums, and the read is great but i have a few questions to ask.

I'm looking to upgrade my headlights and corner lights, and i can't seem to find the right ones. I see that a lot of you have the clear corners and headlights together, and i cant lie, you've inspired me to start to upgrade my car.. although i only have a 2000 protege SE, i'm sure i can do quite a bit to it (i hope). also, i'm looking to install side markers, lowering springs and purchasing rims so any info reguarding these few questions AND MORE would be awsome.

any ideas on upgrades to my car would also be nice, although it'll take a while to do it, i'm really looking forward to fixing it up.

headlights - you can try and do them yourself (the how-to is somewhere on the forum) or you can buy the blacked out headlights. They're like 80 bucks on ebay. And if you want vinyl overlays RockBlocker makes them for our car (yellow, blue, black, clear).

springs - I had apex springs w/camber bolts before I went to coils. nice ride with a 1.5" drop. ebay and ProtegeGarage are great sources for parts.

btw - welcome aboard

thanks for the welcome, one quick question.. I keep looking for the blacked out headlights, and all i come up with is the protege 5 lights, any idea as to what i should search for? also do the 01+ headlights fit on the 00 model? i mean same bolt pattern?

as for the lowering springs, great deal i shall look into them! :)

99-00 headlights and 01+ are two different styles. these are the headlights for the 99-00 and you'd need to get the corners from their website. procarparts.com

I have those exact headlights and the corners that go with them, definately a must for 99-00... IMHO

Hey man, welcome to the forums. Obviously you are from Canada cause you have an SE. Where ya from?

If you are looking for rims, your best bet would be to buy from a local tuner shop if you have one, or to buy from the following sites:

www.1010tires.com
www.tiretrends.com

Cause they are both located in Canada, you will save on shipping/duty charges from the USA which are brutal.

For springs, Eibach Pro-Kit or Tein S-Tech are what most Protege owners have. Depends on how low you want to go. Also, Protege Garage and Corksport carry alot of good parts for the 99-00 Protege as well.

Hey, thanks..

I live in Brampton, Ontario (15 mins west of toronto) although i don't make alot of cash (cheap fking boss :/) im gunna be moving jobs, i'm still trying to fix up my car a little bit.

I'll be sure to check out those rims, and hopefully by summer 06 i'll have the rims and springs installed. I'll have to take a few pics of my car so some people can help me with the few details needed to make it look.. how do you put it? pimp! we can call it mazda forum project car :p

haha if you can find a car on this forum that isnt involved in some sort of project, let me know...

welcome tho and good luck with the upgrades, but beware, its an addiction

lol, i know.. it's hard not to work on ur car.. right now the only modification i have is a new deck, sirius radio and 2 12" subs with a 500 watt 4 channel sony amp... (had a rockford fosgate but it caught fire :p) i feel that i am gunna work on the appearance of my car before the power. but than again power sounds pretty tempting!!! oh lord help me!!! hehe

Hey, i was wondering, what would be a good place to swap manual windows/mirrors to power... I basically need new door panels and window regulators.. anyone know of any place to get these parts? including grey door panels? it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

thanks, hey does protege garage have window regulators and door panels for my 00 protege SE?

This will cost you an arm and a leg to get all the parts together to complete this mod (believe me, I have looked into it). Your best bet would be to get some after market power windows installed. Probably save you alot of money. Just a heads up.

meaning what? new windows and door panels? or can i keep the protege door panel and just change the windows?

PM Tampasport20. He was selling his power window motors and whatnot. From what he told me, its pretty much plug and play. Not sure everything about it, but ask him and he can tell you about it.

He sold that stuff already to someone in Quebec. I was looking at buying it off of him, but couldn't decide if I wanted to go through with it. Not sure how hard it would be to make all that stuff work. Would be sweet though.

Yeah, I was going to buy that too from him. Plus I would of saved on shipping since I could have picked it. But I didn't want the added weight of the power window motors added to my car. So I decided to stick with my manual windows. Doesn't bother me any. Plus its one less thing I don't have to worry about blowing/shorting out.
