OK I just got off the phone with Jack at UNICHIP...good news...they can make us the MS3 PNP Unichip...the only issue or delay is getting the right harnesses for the MS3's ecu...they have everything else ready for it...

So basically this is what Jack said...

"I need a MS3 for two weeks so he can observe the chip in action with DD experiences ...and 50 for sure deposited customers."

Josh@RonTonkin might be helping us out on the loaner part...Thanks Josh...

DEPOSIT $100 non refundable unless it's due to unichips end...ie like they can't find or make a harness...which he said has never happened...

The power gains will be very close to the MS6 gains he said...Since they have the software already made for our car and only the harnesses are needed, he said once everything is a go, it takes 90 days...on average...from that point...

OK so josh's car goes in to get hardwired up with with a unit this week...

This is from the horses mouth...Jack @ Unichip

2.3T calibration work
All of the basic engine control work has been done with the Speed6 which is a finished part. Max gains 47.1 HP 55 TQ. Off of stock motor.

The only remaining issues are adapting any subtle changes to the calibration to account for changes between the Speed6 and Speed3.

Well make some calibrations for various hardware configurations at the discretion of the members of the group buy different intakes, water injection, etc Bottom line will probably be 2 configurations for every 50 kits purchased by the group. Stock will be a freebie

PnP harness
The Speed3 ECU is physically different from the already completed Speed6 so we have to make a new harness.
Well be figuring out how well proceed on the harness next week and get an estimate for the timeline and the cost

GB requirements
Minimum of 50 kits
Price break based on volume 50 kits, 100 kits, 150 kits, etc
All communication will be routed through you both from the group to us and from us back to the group
Once the price is established, well have you open the group buy. Well open it for 2 weeks at the end of which the group buy will close.
To be included, a $100 deposit must be made by close date
Youre responsible for collecting the deposits
Youll forward the deposits to us as soon as the close date passes
The deposits are refundable if and only if we fail to produce a product
The deposits are, however transferable if somebody changes their mind essentially

Timeline
I dont see any issues at all with the development whether we end up buying the plugs or making them ourselves.
I think the timeline we outlined this afternoon is pretty reasonable

I am interested. Whether I'll be able to afford it is the real question.
I love the idea that no matter where I am, if I have a problem, all I need to do is unplug this thing and I'm back to stock, but it is not just an interceptor unit.
My question is, how much of the control does the new chip take over from the ECU?
Some of us are getting a reflash that changes the algorithms that control the fuel pump. Does this chip work in conjunction with that portion or does it take over that as well? If it takes it over, which version of the fuel algorithms are they going to base it on?

I have visions of soccer moms in CX7s cruising around embarassing guys. (shudder)

well they have had my car for 2 days and we should see info pouring out soon. I hope to get my car back in 2 weeks with the unit all hooked up. i am going out of town for a week wednesday so i hope when i come back to see good things.

Not to jack the thread (jacked) or take away potential customers from Unichip, but...

There are a few companies working on a tuning solution...
One being this one, Superchips (Cobb AP like unit), Cobb AP (have we given up on this one yet?), some reflash from the land of OZ, and a few others...

Do we really want to jump on the first thing that comes out?

I know I want something now!!! And I was on the Xede band wagon for a while...but after seeing so much disappointment and empty promises, I'd rather wait and make sure whatever comes out is proven...

Is the piggy-back route the way to go?
Is the reflash better?
Why hasn't anyone just come out with a full stand-alone?

Just throwing some ideas and concerns out there...

(I don't mean to deter anyone from Unichip)

read what it says right on that link........
programmable PIGGYBACK ecu tuner....i'm out. this in no compares to the AP or the flash tool that superchips is releasing soon. the disi MZR motor is some high tech s***. i refuse to put some sensor modifying bulls*** like a piggyback on my car. i can go around my car a put map potentiometers on all my sensors if i wanted a piggy back. put this on the list with the xede and standback as far as i'm concerned.
