You should have halogen headlights with high-beam DRLs unless you have the optional Technology Package which comes with LED headlights with Signature LED DRLs and AFS.What type of headlights does my 2016.5 CX-5 GS (Canadian) have? LED, Halogen or HID?
Is there something obvious, that you could see by looking at them, that will tell you which they are?You should have halogen headlights with high-beam DRLs unless you have the optional Technology Package which comes with LED headlights with Signature LED DRLs and AFS.
The easiest way is to see where are the DRLs. If they are on high-beams, you have halogen headlights. Is there something obvious, that you could see by looking at them, that will tell you which they are?
The colour of the light. Halogen has a yellow(ish) nuance. LED is pure white. Is there something obvious, that you could see by looking at them, that will tell you which they are?
This can’t be the correct way to tell if OP’s 2016.5 CX-5 came with the LED headlights as the previous owner could have replaced the factory H11 / HB3 halogen headlight bulbs with aftermarket LED bulbs. The colour of the light. Halogen has a yellow(ish) nuance. LED is pure white.
Thanks for that. Yes, looks like LED only came with the GT trim level.Spec sheet for 2016.5 - Canada

"Is there something obvious, that you could see by looking at them, that will tell you which they are?" In this question there is no mention about the previous owner or the original headlights of the car, possible modification or anything. It's a simple question: just by looking at the headlights, can you tell the difference between halogen and led? Yes, you can. This can’t be the correct way to tell if OP’s 2016.5 CX-5 came with the LED headlights as the previous owner could have replaced the factory H11 / HB3 halogen headlight bulbs with aftermarket LED bulbs.
