TurboSmart Ultimate question (not kompact series)

Hey guys, those who run the Turbosmart ULTIMATE (not kompact) is it possible to take off the horn and still run hybrid? I mean clearance is a big issue especially with the huge ass body of the ultimate...so just looking at it, I know the horn will hit the hood duct...I know I can twist the valve to angle down the horn....but even after twisting it, the horn is so damn big that it still hits

my question is, is it possible to run without the horn with no abnormal effects? My options are...

1. Run full recirc (remove horn and put blocking plate)
2. Run hybrid and remove horn completely

I would like to run option 2 but just need to know if its okay...I am assuming the horn is just there for cosmetic purposes? or naw?

I have the same valve. The horn can be removed but it will change the sound.

John, are you using the horn or did you have to take it off due to fitment. Also, what is the dif between the compact series and the ultimate besides the size?

I'm using the horn. It touches just barely on the plastic hood shroud but not enough to cause any issues. I'm not sure what the difference is. From what I can tell, mine just has a longer knob than the compact.

Hmm... We were doing a group run and one of the other MS3's was rubbing with his and it ended up cracking some where near the top. He ended up limping home. Dont know what happened as we have not seen or heard from him since but think it should be a concern. Hopefully you wont have any issues!

just by looking at the picture...the komact series is the way to go if fitment is a concern

1. Vacuum nipple orientation better suits the kompact...since it is 90 degree angle and rotates separate from the cap...the ultimate points straight up

2. The horn is positioned in a way that it favors the kompact...its actually already slightly angled in the kompact series versus the ultimate....the ultimate horn is directly behind the recirc tube, not angled....this is the main reason for fitment issues (besides the fact that the ultimate is larger in size)

i heard they both perform well...and if there is a sound difference, probably the ultimate would be louder since its a larger body and larger horn.....

but from what i know, they are not noticeably louder than one another
