TurboSmart Dual Port problems

My car has been feeling laggy, hesitates, and backfires. I have been here some clicking from the engine bay area too. Tonight I stopped to adjust the spring to a softer setting to see if the car would continue to have these issues. When I turned the dial I got a loud clicking sound. So I whipped out the cell phone and took a video.

Solution: Put on the best BPV you can get. And, best of all, it is free. It is the stock BPV.

Way too many guys are figuring out the hard way that the stock BPV, specially designed for this engine with its dual diaphragm design, holds boost better and higher without problems, operates extremely smoothly and never gets out of adjustment. It is full time 100% recirc. Your ECU and your engine will thank you.

Maybe it doesn't have any "bling." It just performs. I don't mind spending money on mods (see my sig). But they have to actually improve performance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless your boost gauge (you do have one or a DH or other way to monitor) shows that the stock valve is leaking, (very few ever do) there is no reason to replace it and the money is better spent on mods that actually make a difference.

if you dont want the stock 1 get the Turbosmart Black Kompact Plumback i have it on my speed6 and works great. and the stock actualy leaks after awhile and while using a cobb ap with stage 1 map with sri. 3 speed 3s have leaked boost out here in hawaii on the dyno.

Sounds like the piston is locked up....or the spring might have gave out.

Thanks for the tips. The Turbosmart cam on the car and I did not get the stock bpv. The Turbosmart is 100% recirc right now.

I've heard first gens had some issues, but that's just crazy whats going on with yours....make sure you take care of it ASAP cuz thats a critical part of your turbo system.

Since OP does not have the stock BPV, he can't go back. Understood.

But guys, I'm telling you that at 54,000 miles of HARD driving, lots of "performance testing" and dragstrip runs with catless dp/rp running 19 psi and now with HT at the same target, I simply cannot make the stock BPV leak or malfunction.

Don't buy into the notion that the stock BPV leaks. It is no more likely to leak or cause problems that the aftermarket options and probably less likely to do so. Any BPV could leak, regardless of brand, but unless you have a boost gauge that says that you're not holding your targetted boost, you will not obtain any power gain by switching BPV's. I don't care what brand you are talking about.

If OP's car still had the stock BPV he would not be having his problems. He would not be needing advice, would not have to try to fix that valve and would not have to be considering purchasing something else. And he would not have to be constantly worrying about whether it is adjusted properly or needs re-adjusting.

Turbosmart in general need to be serviced regularly otherwise they tend to lock up internally cuz the oils is not self lube so metal on metal = not so good.

btw if I have my stock BPV listed for sale right now.

and I only have 27K on the car and I am sure that this bpv has been on there the whole time.
