is it really worth it? i know the price is steep, but i have a nano intake and i want an aftermarket bov.

I have one, works beautiful and easy as s*** to adjust.
Love the sound.
Also a very good looking piece.

Well worth the money!! so far the best bov I've used. Owned the HKS, GREDDY and the FORGE, and i have to say this is by far the most crisp sounding and best performing one yet.!!

Have owned and used the Turbosmarst and HKS. The turbosmart does sound very attractive, but have found that even on the weakest spring setting, you'll get compressor surge during low boost conditions (parking lots, traffic, light throttle etc.) And this is with my CX-7 which has a smaller turbo on the same engine. It's kinda embarrasing at times. I first really noticed this when I was circling the airport arrival terminal. Echoed like crazy!!!!!

Hey Bro,

I believe you are experiencing BOV flutter NOT surge. Surge only happens when the spring is to TIGHT. I have mine set 1 full turn above stall setting and it works awesome, clean sound everytime even under vac 15hg. so tighten it abit and you'll love it.

Just installed mine

So you guys that have the Turbosmart BOV are running 50/50 right? That's 50 recirc and 50 vta? By doing 50/50 do you have the problems like running rich during shifts and backfiring, the problems people have when running full vta?

Sphincter, Here is something I leaned yesterday(and please I am incorrect please someone correct me) but the BOV really is in place to help release to compressed air that doestn't have any where to go inbetween gear changes. The thick blue hose connect to the turbo inlet the small blue hose is a Vac (boost line) and the whole thing sits on the intake manifold. Well how I have question I know the speed is fly by wire setup for the thottle but does the interact with the BOV?

It is controlled by the ratio of the vacuum or boost applied to the thin vacuum line at the top of the BOV compared to the vacuum or boost applied to the lower surface of the piston. No direct connection to the throttle is used. Exceuse the poor explanation, I've read enough about this to pretty much understand how they work, but not enough to expalin it well. There is a much better explanation at

Um, so running 50/50 with this valve the car doesn't run rich during idle? Also, running 50/50 with this valve does the car backfire during shifts? I have a basic understanding of how the valve works, but I want to know how the car runs with this valve on 50/50 setting.

I have this valve and love it. It doesn't run rich at idle. In fact, no valve should if properly installed. The valve at idle and on thottle will stay closed. Only when lifting under boost should it open. I have small backfires sometimes and slightly rich AFR's while shifting as to be expected with any valve that is not 100% recirculating.

I say wait for Cobb's, I saw the prototype a few days ago, its beyond badass looking. And tested up to 35 psi might I add. BTW I would go 100% recirc on dat.

I too have the turbosmart and I run it 50/50, first week I didn't get any backfire but once I felt the valve was to tight cuz it took longer for the turbo to spool up, I loosened and it works wonderful cuz now it spools and the bov works just great with only a few pops in the exhaust, but then again the exhaust used to do it even without the Turbosmart. From what I can tell on my DashHawk it doesn't run any different in A/F between shifts so I guess it's all about the adjustment.
