Traction Control/DSC Questions

After doing some research on the forums I found out about turning off the traction control/DSC by pushing the dsc button when the car is started. I have run into three different scenarios. Start the car normally and push the DSC button after the car is started, from what I gather this turns off the wheel spin control. Second push the DSC button briefly while starting the car and the DSC light comes on and the sliding car light. It appears to turn off all stability control but you can press the DSC button again and re-enable the traction control/DSC. The third is holding the DSC button down for about 30 seconds while starting the car, this makes both the DSC light and the sliding car light disappear and it feels like it has the same basic effect as the second scenario, but you have to turn the car off to get the traction control/DSC to turn back on. Has anyone else played around with this? I want to know if anyone knows what each scenario actually does or if there are any other scenarios? Also does anyone know if pushing the DSC button disables the anti-lock brakes? I have been messing around with this since it seems to completely change how my car drives. It seems to make my car shift smoother and gets rid of almost all of my Automatic Transmission Complaints.

Thanks,
Josh

Sounds odd.

Ive owned non dsc mazda3 HB's and DSC as well. I notice no difference in the shifting. Traction Control and stability control only kick in when a wheel slips and starts from there. Unless your in low traction situation, it shouldnt shift any differently.

To my knowledge anti lock brakes are just as much hardware as software and cannot be disabled.
