Looking to replace the stock potenzas with something new. Looking for a summer tire with decent grip but nothing spectacular since I have race tires for that. Need to last for a good number of miles, 20,000 would be great. Also I don't want to break the bank since I have other mods planned too.

Hankook V12s. I recently got a set and have a good 500 miles on them already. Love them.

Tad softer sidewalls but not by much. Very predictable give and break.
They regain composure quicker then the stock RE050s in short/long quick transitions.
Wet performance is phenomenal. We've had some major down poors the past two days giving me the first chance to try them in the wet and they are by far superior to the RE50s. In fact the do just as well if not better then the PS2s I had my old WRX.

I'd say if the stock RE050s were a 8.2, these are a 8.5

Found some Sumitumos that are 108 a tire and people have a lot of good things to say about them so I'll probably go in that direction

Coming up on 20k with my Dunlop Direzza sport Z1 star spec's and still have a bit more life left, great tire with lots of grip.
That's pretty good for an extreme performance summer tire, I have rotated every 5k miles to get the most out of these. Don't know your budget but got these at the RACK for around $168/tire in a 225/45. Tirerack has quite a few options with reviews and tests so you can check side by side comparisons...

Really 20k? I thought with such a low wear rating they would go away pretty quick. Do you auto cross or track your car at all?

Yep 20k, this is a 200 treadwear tire compared to the stock Potenza which is 140 treadwear. I rotated at every oil change and kept good track of tire pressure. I even have half a dozen autox events on these and yes I'm at 20k right now. I will be purchasing another set of these for sure. That was my concern too when I bought these, now that I know I can get this much out of a high performance tire for street use it's hard to beat the price for these...

I'm just worried about wear because I track, auto cross, occasionally drag, and have the usual fun on the streets so idk how these would last for me. I've got a set of RE-01's on my stock wheels so I can always throw those on for auto crosses and open track days if I have no way to bring my A6's with me. Definitely not wasting those on the street lol. Thats why I'm leaning towards the sumitomos since they are cheap and will last for a long while with a 300 tread wear rating. If I want to auto-x on them I still can but I might complain a little but I'd only do that for little events that don't matter. Plus at 108 a tire! I'd love to save some cash lol.

Seems like you know what you need, and if you have another set for track days you could spend less on a decent tire for sure. Just sharing my experience with these Dunlops. You can get a decent amount of miles on these if you're maintaining them properly...

I might have these replace my RE-01r's when I need to replace them then. Seem to be a really good tire.

20K sounds amazing! If you have the stock springs did the 225s raise the car? How do they fit in the wheel well? How is steering response? Any other differences noticed between stock size on the street and track?

Less wheel gap for sure, I'll try to post a pic at some point with the 225/45... like this size for stock rim. Also, no problems with rubbing at all for me in this size. Just ordered my second set, $50. rebate right now.
