Thinking of upgrading my Apex DP

My current exhaust setup is, APEX 2.5" DP with Greddy SP-2. I do not like the little restriction after the turbo. Does somebody make a better version of this? Does somebody make a downpipe that comes right off the turbo rather than this little s pipe (or j pipe)? I get confused on this topic, and even after searching....I do not know what I can buy to aid my situation. I am guessing nobody makes the little piece right after the turbo exit....so I guess I am looking for a new downpipe that will go from my turbo to my Greddy SP-2. Who has this and what does it cost? BTW this means I would be selling my APEX DP. Thank you in advance!

Bremmer says it is a two piece, so I would have to connect/weld these two pieces together?

Thanks for the info....I did not realize they sold just this portion of the true turbo back, and that it matched with the stock cat-back. Good to know. When I saw the picture of the two pieces in GHL's thread.....it confused me.

Do a search on GHL downpipe, it goes from the turbo to cat back, 1 piece.

GHL although I really don't see the point in spending the extra money, especially when you've already got a good setup now.

The GHL pipes slip fit into eachother with flanges for the turbine and catback.

Thanks.

brianmcd - I have a nice setup, but I am not using its full potential by restricting airflow at the beginning of its travels. I have heard the ID of the s pipe is rather small, correct me if I am wrong.

Yep thats why I will soon be replacing it with a GHL s pipe (yippy)

Is the stock S pipe really that much of a problem? I thought it was only minor, but i could be wrong (shrug)

no.. but I would rather get rid of all the restriction as well

You can get JUST the s-pipe? Or are you talking about the s/j pipe combo that slips over the other half of the GHL downpipe?

UPDATE - nevermind.....I see that you can buy JUST the GHL s-pipe
So just how small is the stock s-pipe? Is it worth it?

not really. no one's really done a test to see how much of a restriction the s-pipe actually is. apex apparently did one cause they were looking into making an s-pipe replacement but they found there was little gain. that's word of mouth though from apex. take it for what it's worth.

however, discreetmsp was running 18 psi and the stock s-pipe and causing all kinds of havoc in houston. 505zoom stills has the stock s-pipe, even with the upgrades and he's still putting down great numbers.

so take it for what it's worth. on that note though, mine will be replaced when i have my downpipe made.

Thanks for the input. I will wait until I get more modding done, there is no point in doing it right now. Sorry for everyone who got excited in buying my Apex DP. Maybe in the future.

Yeah, I really don't think there is that much gain from replacing the s-pipe. Like Striker187 said, 505zoom is running stock s-pipe with a gt28rs making a lot of power.
