Thermal barrier/heat shield?

Anybody know of a inexpensive thin heat insulation? I'm going to make a ram air using the stock air box and piping, and I want to insulate the bottom of it from the radiator heat.

After opening the hood after driving I can say you are right to install insulation on your cold air intake, or it would be very warm air.

you can just try some sheet aluminum.

sheet aluminum alone will heat soak rapidly; perhaps make a composite of the insulation between Al sheets....

The aluminum would work, but would require alot of forming to look decent and fit under the stock stuff. The mat looks like it'd work, but I dunno....maybe an aluminum cap on the rad instead of the bottom of the intake. Wonder if there is a spray insulator, that'd be the easiest for me. Kinda like jet hot, but that'd work on plastic.

OK easier install, but don't know how much this stuff costs. Hook/Loop(velcro) specifically for cold air intakes (3-4inch dia).

I used aluminium drier duct. It seems to work better then I thought it would. Also you can buy all that stuff their listing at www.jegs.com They have tons of stuff in that nature. Usually stuff like that you can find at the good old boys shops.
