The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Good call, Sho. I'll text that turkey right now. Now that I have a fun car to drive again...

yeah you were behind me, Evan. I didn't look in the rear view much I was concentrating on not nailing the guy in front of me lol. On the way out I wished I had the awd because I hit a tight turn a tad too fast and didn't have the power in the rear to pull myself back around... That was scary lol

That looks very awesome. Like everyone else, I always wanted to run the Dragon but not with everyone else bombing the roads too. I've seen too many smashed Protege's from that road. If it was closed, legal and safer that would be epic. I'm not finding a cost, though?

$250 for both days, 1 driver. $150 for 2 drivers splitting the entry.

Also note that this is only a 2.2 mile stretch of the Dragon not the full 11 miles. But still it would be the most fun way to experience the dragon if you ask me. It's put on by the Central Carolina Region SCCA so SCCA.

Are you sure, because I was behind Sho. haha

I gotta get my newer rubbers mounted up already, these all seasons weren't doing so hot. haha

edit- that's not bad for a legal run on the Dragon. I've never been there, have any of you guys ran it?

yea I know I just meant the group behind me. I understand if sho didn't go to fast the 215's got a little sketchy when I pushed my car and he is more stiff than me

yeah... the way I drive that car I wouldn't feel very comfortable with a tire like that

yeah, i thought about that after i posted it. his plugs are on (winter) all season tires on the wagon, so not so crazy driving in the snow/wet. : /

this GAL has ran it, and I drive stick LOL (private joke from yesterday at Superfly) ... we went down as a group a few years ago ... 2007 maybe? it was a c6c trip ... a fun weekend. I've seen nasty pics too, but honestly, you really can't run it THAT fast ... we actually had BOTH shepherds in the back seat of the protege on one run and Aja broke the video camera mount off the headrest with her head, poor thing ... I don't recommend having dogs in the back seat sloshing around. : /

Hmm, maybe we should try to schedule a Team Ohio weekend down there in the off season?

Aja,as in the Steely Dan album?

Haha. Im running the genpu 225 dunflops right now. Like marlon said, sooffftt sidewall is no good.

Speaking of tires, I've got Ivan's old 235/45-17 and want to mount them to my RPF1's sized 17x7. I've read they will mount up okay without issues but of course a wider wheel would be ideal. Has anyone ran a 235 on a 7 wide wheel before?

I also picked up Pablo's old set of Conti's sized 215/45-17 that I know will fit the 7 wide wheel better (I bought those for the P5 but alas) but they are kinda on the small side for the MS6.

Anyone have a 225-17 for sale/trade? :)

Aja was named after the Album..She was a Black Shepherd! We'll be headiing to TN this weekend to visit family, I think it took us a couple of hours to get there, it was a lot of fun. You will need two way radios, as sometimes cops just hang there and pull everyone over and the bikers sometimes are a bot crazy. Fall is the best time to go!

Sell current RPF1s
Sell the 215/45/17s
Buy a set of 17x9 RPF1s. :)
Mount 235/45/17s on the new RPF1s. :)

What kind of tires are the 235s?

I'd personally go for the 215s, while it's easy to say "OMG wider is better!!!!" But the 215 is better matched to the 7" wide wheel, so you'll have a better feel from the properly matched wheel and tire. I'd even bet that given the same tire in those two sizes on a 7" wheel, the 215 would be very comparable in terms of time on the autocross course. :)

Thanks for the advice, Will. I'll probably just rock the 215's of the RPF1's. The 235's are Conti Extreme contact or something. If I can sell the Rays I'll just buy some 17x8 for DD wheels.

I hate selling wheels. Everyone just lowballs the crap out of the price. And one of my RPF1's was repaired and re-powder coated so it doesn't match the others perfectly. I wouldn't feel right or get much money for them as they stand so I'll just keep them.

I feel your pain. I had those PF01s that were in perfect condition for sale for about 6 months before I eventually sold them with the car.

It makes me never want to buy new wheels again, but I'm so picky that I can never find what I want used. :)

no kidding, marc and I went through it two more times. was that you sho following Evan #2 and Marlon when marc and I passed them? we turned around to catch up but couldn't so I could only imagine how quick you guys made it through

I had a feeling you guys went through again. We ended up going to Honey Hut for some ice cream.

That is more fun than racing people just out of pure power. I would do that every day if I had a place near me like that. The closest place I have is 20 min away :(

I should have grabbed those when you had them for sale. I didn't realize how much of a pain getting repairing and painting a set of wheels are

I love how close that road is to my house...and the fact that it's on my way home from work and I drive it a ton!

That road is so smooth! In the winter, it's completely closed because it's way to difficult for the plows to go down it without crashing HAHA! So it never sees salt or snow plows.
