I went to the dealership to get my car checked out again for the PO171 code (system 1 bank 1 lean). I told them that my turbo was making funny whinning noises under boost and decelerating. I picked my car up today and to find out the the wastegate diaphram is bad, cracked (somthing like that). So they are ordering a new one and I'll have it on soon. I thought I would post this cause their are quit a few post about the PO171 code. So if anyone has that problem and hasn't solved it, my best bet is to take it to the dealership and have them check it out cause their is a tech bulliten about the diaphram goin bad. THought this can be of some use to people.(ughdance)

That happened to me almost 1 1/2 years ago. Mazda had to replace the whole turbo though. Im sure they will do the same for you. Good luck!

I am having the same problem to but i am going to replace the wga with the one from atp. I was told that its either an injector is going bad or my maf sensor was messed up. But I didn't take to the dealer I read in the manual for the MSP and beside that code says that the maf is not functioning right. But I dont know where to start because I have heard so many different things to check my head is spinning. If anyone could lend some advice on where to start that would be big help because this problem is killing my top end on my car.

I was told the same thing, that my MAF was bad (also I had NNNOOOO top end) and that they wanted to change it. I went back again and told them my turbo was making a whinning noise during spool up and decelration then they checked and found a TSB with the symtoms I was having. I bet thats the problem!

Technical Service Bulletin

It's just instructions for the dealership to fix common problems that they find with the car. If your car is under warranty and you have the symptoms of one of the TSBs, they'll fix it for free.

Srry guys. I have totaly forgot about this thread. It did fix my problem. I don't have the TSB number. I found it off the internet though. I can try to find it again for you guys while if yall want to, you can try to look it up also.
