Stock MS6 Smoking - Under Warrenty Logging Experience

I am starting a post about my 2006 MS6 which started smoking last week. The smoke comes out after it has been idling for a few minutes. My car is bone stock and has never been modded or raced.

The milage on my car is a little over 21K. I always let my car idle for atleast 30 seconds after driving as specified in the Mazda owners manual. I have always used Mobil 1 Super Synthetic 5W30 oil before Mazda's recommended intervals.

I am making this post to track how my experience goes with the dealership. I know some people have had good luck while others have not had great luck at all.

Hopefully, because my car is bone stock I should not have any issues. Maybe some members will get some good information from my experience. I'll keep updating this post as progress is made.

hey whats up, i have the same problem going in next week, about the same milage and also bone stock.

good luck.. since your bone stock, they prolly wont give you and grief as long as you can prove all you oil changes..

That was the first thing the service rep asked about when I turned it in. I told him I have done all my own oil changes.

Where I used to live, the nearest Mazdaspeed dealership was an hour away and was not open on weekends. So if I wanted a dealer oil change I would have had to take a day off of work.

I will definately be preparted to put up a solid arguement if they tell me my car is not covered under warrenty.

So i get a call Friday from the service desk after they had my car all day. They said in order to find out where the smoking was coming from they would have to tear the engine down.

The only problem: if it was the turbo and I didnt have my oil change recipets they would void the warrenty and charge me for the tear down.

So I say: Wow thats a catch 22, you dont know what it is, but in order to find out it MIGHT cost me $400 if I dont have the right paperwork?

Even the paperwork was shady BS. I would have to show ALL of the oil reciepts of me purchasing oil and filters. What I said was completely pointless. I mean just because I bought it doesnt mean I actually put it in the car right? What do I need video evidence and notorized documents show I had a freeken oil change.

Needless to say I was livid. They waited untill like 5 o clock on Friday to call me because they knew they were f-ing me. They tried to say well it could be anything, but then specifically referenced the turbo. They know its the turbo.

I took my car and left. I am going to look for some kind of documents. But other than that I am going to have to talk to the service manager. The last thing I want to do is have them break my motor down and then charge me. I will be out of money and with no car, totally screwed.

I swear on my life, if this does not get fixed I will NEVER buy a Mazda ever again. I will make it a point to tell everyone not buy a Mazda.

thats bs. if the service manager gives you s***, ask to talk to the general manager. if he gives you s***, ask to talk to the Mazda NA tech rep

edit: they can't void your warranty for doing your own oil changes. reference the warranty paperwork, it says nothing about all maintenance being done by the dealership.

Same thing started happening to me two weeks ago and and I only have 15K. I took it in and they said it was the turbo seals and that they had seen them fail in the speed6 and speed3 many times. He said there was some updated seals but he never told me if that is what they put on my car. They did replace the whole turbo and gaskets at no charge. They paid for my rental and had my car ready for pick up the next morning. These guys are pretty anal about everything else so I was surprised they didn't throw up more of a fight. My car is stock and having my little boys seat in the car probably helped to quash any thoughts of me abusing my car. I hope the dealers in Houston were as cool as the ones in Minnesota.

dont let them BS you, there is a specific test they can do to tell if its the turbo seals. atleast thats what my dealer told me when they replaced my turbo. and i had a CAI and HKS BOV on at the time.

Had same problem here. I took it to the dealership. I mentioned the warranty problems people were having with being dropped for b/s and they said that doesn't happen. They fixed my leak in the turbo by replacing with a new turbo kit no questions asked. They were very reasonable. AKA go to another dealership. Maybe I got lucky I don't know, but find their closest mazdaspeed rival and tell them your problem. Hopefully they will do it to steal your business from them.
