Hi,
I was wondering what is the stock exhaust size for a protege5? Ive been searching everywhere and I cant seem to find it. I plan on making a straight mid pipe. but there is no reason to go bigger so I want to keep the same size for now.

i'm looking for the same thing right now. i know i've seen it on another thread, just trying to find it. i think its 2.25"...

well for the most part it is 2.25, but there are bends in it and it shrinks down to 2inches at multiple points. it is 2 inches out of the stock muffler, and the bend where the axleback is connected is 2 inches. so you are getting the performance of a 2 inch exhaust. i got a custom 2.25 inch without a resonater and it sounds great and i feel a deffinite boost in perforance.

Is the MSP mid-pipe the same as the P5 midpipe? I know that the MSP has the RB axle back, i just want to know how the midpipes compare, as far as i can tell, they look the same.

The MSP midpipe has 2 cats and an O2 sensor bung. Whereas the P5 midpipe just has the one cat and no O2 sensor bung. But they will bolt up to each other.

i want a new header and down pipe but does it improve power? i mean i at least gotta get a new j-pipe cuz mine cracked in a wreck but thinking bout gettin a combo

Firstly, I apologize for reviving an old thread. I was searching for exhaust specs and came across this. Now I have a question..

I wanted to get a 4-2-1 header for my P5 but the shop I went to get an installation quote from said it couldn't be done because of the cat that runs directly off of the header. You would have to delete that cat and it would no longer pass emissions test. But if I were to put a header and swap the mid pipe with a Msp one, which has both cats on the mid pipe, would that work the same way as the P5's system, with one cat off the header and one on the mid pipe?
