Still going lean with FM clamp

to post this which is inn the other thread (keith i tried to call friday but your office is closed the enitre end of the month, and im trying to get this worked out before the weekend)...

I hooked up the multimeter to the ground and also to the ECU side of the clamp runnign to pin 60. At idle and out of boost it shows .02v, and upon entering boost goes up to only .07v, with it spiking from .08v-.09v at like 6k RPM in 3rd gear. otherwise for the most part it puts out .07v...

seems AWFULLY low to me....

btw i only screwed and unscrewed that brass screw. it didnt nothing no matter what, so i just put it back to the way it was.

which wire?

look bad to me.

Did you tried with it disconnected from the ECU? Having it connected to the ECU may give false readings...

Did you tested the O2 sensor?

1. what do you mean which wire i just said
2. why would having it connected to the ECU give false readings? i have it tapped before the ECU.
3. the condition of the o2 sensor has nothing to do with the clamp, as stated by many people ANY keith himself. so basically i didnt bother :)

yeah, the condition of the O2 sensor has nothing to do with the clamp, it may still send .36 when clamping. BUT!!! if the ECU sees a problem with the O2 sensor, it will be useless.

Try it, disconnect the O2 sensor and try some boost for a few days. You may encounter problems that 1 day may go ok, then the next day will go lean.

You will know when you have problems with the O2 also when cold idle is rough or you have to start and re-start the car a few times, then it will idle fine.

what will be useless? keith even said tht the o2 sensor has nothing to do with the clamp. im not farting around with s*** that the maker of the clamp said is pointless.

im assuming your talking about the 1st O2 senor... because my second one doesnt exsist.

This reminds me that I need to go out there and install my O2 Sim.

You don't have a MIL eliminator or something like that already on your O2 do you? If you do, then that could be messing with the votlage the clamp see's.

also i will say again, if i remove the clamp, the car and AFRs, and EVERYTHING stays the same. nothing changes. obviously the clamp isnt working.

do you remeber the wire colors youve tapped into?
pretty sure just from memory. there are only 4 wires to be connected to. the one wire from the clamp connects to the firewall end of the pink/blue pin 60, the other wire (one is yellow one is blue i believe) connects to ecu end of the same wire. then you have a red wire which i blieve goes to...nm i cant remember. its white, but i cant remember the pin. and then the black goes to pin 77 (i believe) which is black/white.

is the clamp feeding from signals from the first or second o2 sensor?

sounds like you installed it right... from my memory. Ill be home tomorrow and ill take my ecu out and check for you. BTW now that i listened mine clicklclickclicks as well and i can hear it from the drivers side. Mine still works so im assuming its normal.

yea i figured that. what o2 sensor is this pulling readings from? the first, right? im not sure if i still have that code or not. suppposedly its illegal here in cali to have autozone etc check for you. you have to rent their thing for 180 bucks, which ******* sucks. its refundable but you know how people will be so quick to charge you but take like 7-10 days to refund you.
