Steering wheel material on CX-9 compared to CX-5?

We just went from a 2013 CX-5 to a 2018 CX-9 and had a question about the steering wheel material.

The 2013 was "leather wrapped" but the one on the CX-9 seems much nicer.

What's the difference and can I use leather cleaner to clean?

I have a 2018 CX-9 , a solution of mild soap and water is all you need to clean the steering wheel. You can apply some leather protectant or interior dressing if you'd like, for UV protection.

Same for me. I have a small spray bottle of mild soap (~50 ml water + a few drops of dish soap) then another spray bottle of protectant (carpro perl diluted 1:5)

So yeah mild soap or vinyl/leather cleaner it is.

does anyone know the difference between the cx9 wheel vs the leather wrapped cx5 from 2013?
The cx9 seems nicer. Were they both leather?
